Jill Bristow understand the need for web site to not just look good, but to be able to accessed by all, have have made every effort to meet the requirements set down by the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 1995 with in the requirements regarding online access.

We are always working with new technologies to help us meet these requirements and adhere to attaining level 1 of the WCAG.

Cascading Style Sheets

This site uses Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for visual layout. If your browser supports it, style sheets can be disabled or over-ridden to customize the appearance of the website, to your preference.

Access Keys

Access keys are keyboard shortcuts that replace the need to use a mouse for navigation. In Internet Explorer versions 5 and above, hold down ALT + the access key then release both keys and press ENTER. In most other Windows browsers you can press ALT + an access key; and Macintosh users can press Control + an access key.

Jill Bristow appreciates that not all people using our sites can use or have a mouse. Pressing the ' Tab ' key while on a web page will select the next link on the page. You can press ' Tab ' repeatedly to get to the chosen link. The selected link is indicated by the dotted border around the link. Once your chosen link is selected, you can trigger it by pressing the ' Enter ' key on your keyboard. You can move backwards through links by pressing ' Shift ' + ' Tab ' together.

Font Sizes

If you are using internet explorer 5 or above you can go to VIEW, SELECT and then TEXT SIZE to choose your preferred size or for those using FireFox you can use CTRL + to enlarge the text and CTRL - to reduce the size and pressing CTRL 0 will reset the size to it's original format.

Browsers

All of our web site have been built using HTML 4.0 and CSS 1.0/2.0 to ensure they work in as many browsers as possible by being standards compliant.

Internet Explorer 6 and above and also FireFox will render all pages as desired. If you are using any other browser you can switch the CSS styling off for better viewing.
